Small Groups

Groups are how we grow together and care for one another.

At its core, a small group is less about what you do and more about who you do it with. We all need each other and that’s why we have Small Groups. Just like most things, you won’t know until you try, so check out the directory and connect with a Small Group today. You never know, it may be just what you've been longing for.

Common Questions

What happens in a Small Group gathering?

You’ve probably seen a Small Group meeting and not even realized it; friends at lunch, teams playing basketball, or people studying a book or topic of interest. At its core, a small group is a small gathering of people, and it is less about what you do and more about who you do it with. By participating in Group, you can expect to connect with others through a common activity, engage in life-giving conversation and receive prayer.

How often do Groups meet?

Small Groups generally meet during three seasons of the year – fall, winter, and spring, taking a small break during the summer. Most groups meet once a week or twice a month. Small Groups are meant to bring meaning and community into the flow of your life, so even if you can’t attend every meeting, there is still great value in joining a group.

Where do Groups meet?

Groups happen almost daily throughout the week and meet online, in the church building, lunchrooms, and homes all across town.

How long does a typical Group stay together?

Most groups meet for a ministry year (Fall-Spring), while some join in for a single semester (8-10 wks). This way, new people can join groups easily and regularly. As relationships form, some groups choose to stay together for consecutive ministry years, but new members are always welcome.

Why should I join a Small Group?

We believe in the power of small groups to impact your life, the lives of those around you, and even our community as a whole. We believe you can only go so far on your own— God designed us to be connected to each other so that we can continue to grow in every facet of our lives.

What type of groups are there?

Our groups are as varied as we are. But we aim to have groups for Couples, Men, Women, Adults, and Students covering a range of topics from Marriage and Parenting to Bible/Book Studies to Weekend Series Discussions.

When can I join a Group?

The best time to join a group is leading up to a new ministry year or semester; however, our Small Group Directory stays open, allowing you to search out and join a group anytime.

Is childcare provided?

Childcare varies from group to group. When you search our directory for a group, the group profile will indicate if childcare is available.

How do I lead a Small Group of my own?

All our Small Groups Leader are Members of The Harbour Church. So the first step to leading a Small Group is completing GrowthTrack and prayerfully considering Membership. The following steps are outlined in that course.
